Twitter Inc. rolt zoekoptie voor GIFs uit

Twitter rol de komende periode een eigen zoekoptie uit naar GIF-animaties. Dit kondigde het bedrijf 18 februari 2016 aan op hun blog.
Last year, people on Twitter shared over 100 million GIFs — expressing everything from their mood, to an amazing dunk, to their favorite dance move from a music video. Now, sharing GIFs in Tweets and Direct Messages is even easier with our new GIF search.Taking a cue from the Facebook playbook, where GIF search has been tremendously successful in its in-app messaging, the microblogging website is launching an initiative that powers its website with “all the GIFs you know and love, courtesy of our partners at Giphy and Riffsy.

Het is niet een complete verrassing. Twitter geeft aan dat in 2015 meer dan 100 miljoen GIFs zijn gedeeld op het platform. De GIF is al populair op Facebook en lijkt aan een tweede jeugd te zijn begonnen. Je kunt met de nieuwe zoekoptie de animaties door tweets, direct messages en via de eigen app. Na het doorzoeken van de GIF-bibliotheek kun je eenvoudig een GIF toevoegen aan je eigen tweet of bericht. De optie wordt de komende periode actief gemaakt voor iOS, Android en Twitter(.com).
