Aanleiding is een verzoek van Europarlementari\u00ebr Veronika Cifrova Ostrihonova, die signalen ontving van bezorgde gebruikers. De AI-functie is momenteel niet uit te schakelen of te verwijderen uit de WhatsApp-interface.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"564\"><strong data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"564\">Meta AI-knop in WhatsApp roept vragen op<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"876\">&#8220;Noticed something new in your WhatsApp or Messenger chats lately? That little blue circle \u2014 Meta AI \u2014 is Meta&#8217;s new assistant, meant to help you find &#8216;relevant content,'&#8221; aldus Ostrihonova die zo haar vraagtekens heeft namens de EC. &#8220;But here\u2019s the catch: \ud83d\udc49 You can\u2019t turn it off! And that raises real questions about user control and digital safety.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"1220\">Ze vervolgt: &#8220;Several of you reached out to me with your concerns, and I hear you.\u00a0 Yesterday, during a meeting of the @EP_SingleMarket at @Europarl_EN, I raised this issue directly with Executive Vice-President and Commissioner @HennaVirkkunen \u2014 asking whether the Commission was aware of this feature and if it aligns with EU rules. \ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddfa&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1222\" data-end=\"1531\">Om meer duidelijkheid te krijgen, heeft ze inmiddels ook een schriftelijke vraag ingediend bij de Europese Commissie. &#8220;Ik ben dankbaar dat we zulke actuele en belangrijke kwesties op een constructieve en professionele manier kunnen bespreken, zodat de rechten van burgers centraal blijven staan,&#8221; sluit ze af.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1533\" data-end=\"1840\"><em>De Meta AI-chatbot is inmiddels ook zichtbaar voor Nederlandse gebruikers, zolang de taalinstelling van de app op Engels staat. De knop is standaard aanwezig en kan niet worden verwijderd.
