Door deze bug konden afgeschermde tweets van gebruikers wellicht wel jarenlang openbaar te zien geweest zijn. Getroffen zijn Twitter for Android-gebruikers die tussen 3 november 2014 en 14 januari 2019 bepaalde account wijzigingen hebben doorgevoerd. Een voorbeeld is\u00a0het koppelen van een ander emailadres aan hun Twitter account.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Statement<\/h2>\n<p>In een statement op haar eigen website\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.twitter.com\/en\/protected-tweets-android\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schrijft Twitter<\/a>\u00a0dat het probleem op 14 januari opgelost is. Voor gebruikers waarvan Twitter wist dat door deze bug de instelling voor beschermde tweets verandert, heeft het sociale netwerk de juiste instelling weer hersteld.<\/p>\n<h2>Controleer &#8216;Privacy and safety&#8217; instelling<\/h2>\n<p>Omdat ze niet kunnen achterhalen welke en hoeveel gebruikers door deze bug getroffen zijn, raadt Twitter alle gebruikers aan om de instelling voor &#8216;Bescherm uw Tweets&#8217; te controleren en zo nodig weer aan te passen.
