Google stopt met haar sociale netwerk Google+ door een enorm datalek. Het lek was bekend maar werd verzwegen. Jarenlang waren persoonlijke gegevens beschikbaar voor anderen en kregen toegang tot persoonlijke gegevens van gebruikers van Google+. De Telegraaf meldt:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Volgens Google werd in maart een fout in de software ontdekt. Die fout zorgde ervoor dat gegevens die niet door de gebruiker op ‘openbaar’ waren gezet toch twee weken lang vindbaar waren. Het ging om informatie over namen, e-mailadressen, beroepen, geslacht en de leeftijd van gebruikers, maar niet om berichten, foto’s, video’s of telefoonnummers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Einde Google+<\/h2>\n

Google kan niet zeggen om hoeveel gebruikers het gaat datalek.\u00a0Volgens The Wall Street Journal is de kwetsbaarheid bewust stil gehouden. Dit omdat het bedrijf bang zou zijn voor aandacht vanuit regelgevende instanties. Google zelf is niet heel duidelijk over het ‘lek’ maar geeft aan dat bepaalde API-koppelingen teveel data konden ophalen en bekijken:<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the coming months, we\u2019ll roll out additional controls and updating policies across more of our APIs. As we do so, we\u2019ll work with our developer partners to give them appropriate time to adjust and update their apps and services.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to support a wide range of useful apps, while ensuring that everyone is confident that their data is secure. By giving developers more explicit rules of the road, and helping users control your data, we can ensure that we keep doing just that.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In de komende maanden zal het netwerk gesloten worden en augustus 2019 moet er afscheid genomen worden van Google+ voor consumenten.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
