Facebook heeft aangegeven een aantal apps per direct te verwijderen uit de stores. Een daarvan was MyPersonality en werd gebruikt voor allerlei persoonlijkheidstesten. De test was vooral populair in de periode tot 2012 en werd gebruikt door onderzoekers van de Universiteit van Cambridge. Eerder in 2018 werd al duidelijk dat die data op een onbeveiligde website stond en dus ook toegankelijk was voor derden.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today we banned myPersonality \u2014 an app that was mainly active prior to 2012 \u2014 from Facebook for failing to agree to our request to audit and because it\u2019s clear that they shared information with researchers as well as companies with only limited protections in place. As a result we will notify the roughly 4 million people who chose to share their Facebook information with myPersonality that it may have been misused. Given we currently have no evidence that myPersonality accessed any friends\u2019 information, we will not be notifying these people\u2019s Facebook friends. Should that change, we will notify them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It\u2019s also why we\u2019ve changed many of our policies \u2014 such as our expansion of App Review and our new policy that no information will be shared with apps if you haven\u2019t used them in 90 days. We will continue to investigate apps and make the changes needed to our platform to ensure that we are doing all we can to protect people\u2019s information.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
