Zo is Zweden het minst ego\u00efstische land ter wereld. Dat blijkt uit de jaarlijkse <em><a href=\"https:\/\/goodcountry.org\/index\/overall-rankings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Good Country Index<\/a><\/em>, een ranglijst die onderzoekt in welke mate een land de belangen van haar inwoners dient zonder dat dit ten koste gaat van andere landen of het milieu.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page-block text loaded active right\">\n<div class=\"content solid medium\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n<blockquote><p>The idea of the Good Country Index is simple: to measure what each country on earth contributes to the common good of humanity, and what it takes away, relative to its size. Using a wide range of data from the U.N. and other international organisations, we\u2019ve given each country a balance-sheet to show at a glance whether it\u2019s a net creditor to mankind, a burden on the planet, or something in\u00a0between.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h1>De index<\/h1>\n<p>De index moet helpen om anders naar landen te kijken. Hiervoor wordt gekeken naar 35 indicatoren, gebaseerd op gegevens van de Verenigde Naties, NGO\u2019s en de Wereldbank. Zweden \u00a0scoort met name hoog op het gebied van gelijkheid, gezondheid en algemeen welzijn en wordt volgens de ranglijst gevolgd door Denemarken. Nederland staat op een fraaie derde plek.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page-block text loaded right active\">\n<div class=\"content solid medium\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n<blockquote><p>The Good Country Index doesn\u2019t measure what countries do at home. This isn&#8217;t\u00a0because we\u00a0think these things are unimportant, of\u00a0course, but because there are plenty of surveys that already measure them. What the Index does aim to do is to start a global discussion about how countries can balance their duty to their own citizens with their responsibility to the wider world, because this is essential for the future of humanity and the health of our planet.
