Bedoeling is dat de 3e generatie Android OS op toekomstige\u00a0tablets gaat draaien. De eerste tablets zullen januari 2011 op de CES in de VS worden gepresenteerd en zullen van onder andere producenten Acer en LG komen. De nieuwe versie heeft een verbeterde PDF optie, ondersteund Office 2010 bestanden, krijgt een krachtige videochat en zal meer eisen gaan stellen aan de hardware waarop het draait. Ook zijn er toepassingen in het besturingssysteem aanwezig wat diverse applicaties sneller en stabieler zal maken.
