Maar dan wel met\u00a0extreme uitkomst. <a href=\"http:\/\/research.yahoo.com\/pub\/3386\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo! Research onderzocht<\/a> rondom de vijfde verjaardag van Twitter de relatie tussen het aantal tweets en de productie van tweeps. Het onderzoek genaamt &#8216;Who says What to Whom op Twitter&#8217; onderzocht 260 miljoen tweets.\u00a0 50% van die productie leidde naar een elite-groep van 20.000 tweeps. Dit is zeer opmerkelijk te noemen. <!--more--><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Het onderzoek van Yahoo! Research te New York\u00a0is in principe onderdeel van een groter onderzoek. Het &#8216;moederonderzoek&#8217; onderzoekt de invloed van diverse soorten van massacommunicatie. Tijdens het onderzoeken heeft er een &#8216;representatieve&#8217; selectie plaatsgevonden van Celebrities, Organisaties,\u00a0Bloggers en\u00a0diverse media en overige tweeps. To do so, we exploit a recently introduced feature of Twitter known as \u201clists\u201d to distinguish between elite users\u2014by which we mean celebrities, bloggers, and representatives of media outlets and other formal organizations\u2014and ordinary users. Based on this classification, we find a striking concentration of attention on Twitter, in that roughly 50% of URLs consumed are generated by just 20K elite users, where the media produces the most information, but celebrities are the most followed. We also find significant homophily within categories: celebrities listen to celebrities, while bloggers listen to bloggers etc; however, bloggers in general rebroadcast more information than the other categories. Next we re-examine the classical \u201ctwo-step flow\u201d theory of communications, finding considerable support for it on Twitter. Third, we find that URLs broadcast by different categories of users or containing different types of content exhibit systematically different lifespans.
