Google opent in Londen haar eerste echte shop

Er waren wat shop-in-shops en meer fysieke samenwerking met retail. Toch heet Google onlangs pas de eerste echte shop geopend en wel op  Tottenham Court Road in Londen. Google motiveert: “The company normally takes over a small section of the shop with its own decor, demo stations and staff, which naturally attract the attention of curious customers. Google still hasn’t built an Apple-style retail store of its own, but this week it moved one step closer with the launch of a new “Google Shop” inside the Currys PC World store on London’s Tottenham Court Road.” 

 

 

Eigen producten
In de Google Shop zal het bedrijf ‘eigen’ producten tonen en verkopen. Denk hierbij aan Nexus, diverse Chromebooks,  Android-telefoons en -tablets. Ook natuurlijk de Chromecast-dongle en soortgelijke producten.

 

Demonstraties
Het winkelpersoneel zal in de Engelse shop demonstraties encursussen geven over diverse producten. Er is ook plaats voor de nodige relevante interactie: “A large “Doodle Wall” lets you create your own Google Doodle with artificial spray cans; the motion tracking is surprisingly accurate and once you’ve created an artistic monstrosity, you can choose to save your handiwork as an animated GIF. A second installation called “Portal” combines nine 1080p screens for an immersive Google Earth experience.”

Google volgt heel duidelijk de lijn die Apple heeft ingezet met hun stores. Ook heeft Amazon plannen om in New York een shop te openen. Er waren wereldwijd al wat niet officiële shops van Google.
