Google komt met YouTube Gaming
Games genoeg op het Android-platform en in de stores. Tevens genoeg video’s die de werking van de games toont . Toch heeft Google een eigen (video)gameplatform genaamd YouTube Gaming aangekondigd. Het lijkt en eerste stap richting de E3 conference 2015 later dit jaar.
Google heeft de app en website (met meer dan 20.000 pagina’s voor games) voor deze zomer aangekondigd op haar eigen blog: “Today, the gaming world is much more diverse than the one I grew up with, and the community has created new formats that have made gaming more collaborative and interactive. On YouTube, gaming has spawned entirely new genres of videos, from let’s plays, walkthroughs, and speedruns to cooking and music videos. Now, it’s our turn to return the favor with something built just for gamers. This summer, we’ll launch YouTube Gaming, a brand new app and website to keep you connected to the games, players, and culture that matter to you, with videos, live streams, and the biggest community of gamers on the web—all in one place.”
Het platform is niet origineel en lijkt veel op het reeds bestaande Twitch.tv.

Ook uitgevers krijgen een eigen pagina met video’s over hun games. De lancering deze zomer is vooralsnog in de VS en UK. Het is onbekend wanneer het platform naar Nederland komt.
