Basic-Fit meldt hack: persoonsgegevens één miljoen leden mogelijk ingezien

Fitnessketen Basic-Fit heeft haar leden geïnformeerd over een ongeautoriseerde toegang tot persoonlijke gegevens binnen haar systemen. Volgens het bedrijf gaat het om een beveiligingsincident waarbij onbevoegden mogelijk toegang hebben gekregen tot informatie van ongeveer één miljoen leden, waaronder circa 200.000 Nederlandse klanten.

De organisatie benadrukt dat het onderzoek nog loopt en dat er momenteel geen aanwijzingen zijn dat betaalgegevens of wachtwoorden zijn buitgemaakt. Wel worden leden geadviseerd alert te zijn op verdachte e-mails en phishingpogingen. De organisatie meldt vanuit Hoofddorp:

De bescherming van persoonsgegevens van onze leden heeft onze hoogste prioriteit.

Basic-Fit neemt aanvullende beveiligingsmaatregelen

Na ontdekking van het incident heeft Basic-Fit direct extra beveiligingsmaatregelen ingevoerd en externe cybersecurityspecialisten ingeschakeld om de situatie verder te onderzoeken. Ook zijn de relevante autoriteiten op de hoogte gebracht van het datalek, conform de geldende privacywetgeving.

Basic-Fit geeft aan transparant te willen blijven richting haar leden en verdere updates te delen zodra meer informatie beschikbaar is. Het bedrijf biedt excuses aan voor het ontstane ongemak en zegt alles in het werk te stellen om herhaling te voorkomen.

BASIC-FIT INFORMS MEMBERS ON AN UNAUTHORISED DATA ACCESS

Today, Basic – Fit has notified the relevant data protection a uthorit y concerning unauthorized access to
the system that records members’ visits to Basic -Fit clubs. The unauthori s ed access was detected by
our system monitoring processes and was stopped within minutes of discovery. The members whose
data is involved have been informed.

An investigation conducted by external security experts has shown that some of the data stored in the
system was downloaded. The downloaded data concerns active members in several countries. In the
Netherlands, around 200.000 members are affected. The data concerns membership information, name
and address details, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and bank account details . Basic –
Fit does not hold identification documents of members and n o passwords were accessed .
The investigation so far has not shown the data being available anywhere or having been misused.
Together with external specialists, Basic – Fit continues to monitor the issue closely.
